THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN LAP ALBUM LAUNCH CONCERT

Australia’s beloved Australiana band, The Bushwackers, are set to light up the nations capital with a special concert at Belco Arts on Saturday, August 17th, celebrating the official release of their new album, The Great Australian Lap.

The Great Australian Lap, is a collection of songs reflecting contemporary Australia. The title track celebrates the classic Australian road trip, while a poignant new recording of I Am Australian featuring a collaboration with young country music singers. Dobe remarks, “The last verse, sung in language by Kyla-Belle Roberts, highlights the First Nation experience and is the most emotional moment on the album. It deeply resonates with live audiences.” 

The infectious music and heartfelt lyrics of Friend For Life; with it’s social media viral video sensation, the tune is a delightful ode to the ups and downs of welcoming a new puppy into your home. Penned by producer-writer-performer Roger Corbett, inspired by Roger’s family’s one-eyed Cavoodle, ‘Patch’.

The Bushwackers, known for their rich history, humour, and exceptional musicianship, continue to be favourites at festivals and concerts nationwide. Their upcoming show at Belco Arts promises to deliver all the stories, songs, charm and energy that have made them an iconic Australian band.

In 2023, band leaders Dobe Newton and Roger Corbett made a memorable appearance on the TV show The Voice, where their rendition of “I Am Australian”, co-written by Dobe,  turned four chairs and became a social media sensation, attracting a new wave of fans.
